Bolton Wanderers have released goalkeeper Ian Walker from his contract.
The ex-England keeper, 37, reached a settlement to have his £8,000-a-week deal cancelled by mutual consent and could now pursue a career in the MLS.
Walker failed to make a single league appearance for the Trotters after arriving on a free transfer from Leicester in 2005.
Boss Gary Megson said: "Ian has been kicking his heels for a while because we've got a lot of good goalkeepers here and competition is fierce.
"He asked if he could have his contract cancelled which we've agreed to and he goes with our best wishes."
