Bolton crock Alonso ready for first team return

Bolton defender Marcos Alonso has missed a large part of the season due to injury, but the Spaniard now feels he is ready to return and help the Trotters fight against relegation to the Championship. Alonso has played 90 minutes against Manchester City's reserve side, which included Carlos Tevez, and was on the pitch for an hour in the reserves' recent 2-1 defeat by Wigan.

"More than the scorelines, on a personal level a big part of these two (reserve) games were to see how my foot felt and of course my physical condition," Alonso told the club's official website.

"Overall I feel really good and the foot feels great. These last two reserve games were exactly what I needed. I feel a lot more confident now in my foot and my fitness.

"I know I've got to keep working hard and hopefully I can get into the first team.

"We have 10 games left in the Premier League, each on their own merit a cup final for us because we want to win every one of them.

"I feel confident we can climb the league table and make sure we stay in the league.

"I want to be part of the side and if the gaffer asks me to come in and do a job for the first team then I'm confident in my ability.

"After my injury I'm ready to play more football."
