Bolton confirm that Blackburn, Tottenham matches will go ahead

Bolton have confirmed that they will fulfill their upcoming fixtures with Blackburn Rovers and Tottenham.

Bolton have confirmed that they will fulfill their upcoming fixtures with Blackburn Rovers and Tottenham.

The Trotters are due to play the Rovers at Reebok Stadium this Saturday but were unsure if they would compete after midfielder Fabrice Muamba suffered cardiac arrest last weekend during the FA Cup quarter-final at Spurs.

It was suggested that Bolton would pull out of the FA Cup altogether whilst possibly postponing their Blackburn fixture but the club has confirmed that it will be business as usual.

"Bolton Wanderers can confirm that the home Premier League fixture against Blackburn Rovers will go ahead as scheduled, kicking-off at 3pm on Saturday 24 March,” read a statement on the club’s official website.

"The FA Cup quarter-final tie against Tottenham Hotspur will also take place, with a date and kick-off time to be confirmed with the Football Association. "

Bolton boss Owen Coyle admitted that Muamba’s father and partner insist the games must be played.

"We spoke together with the players as a group this morning and I talked with Fabrice's family last night,” Coyle said.

"Fabrice's father, Marcel, and his fiancee, Shauna, were keen that we fulfil our fixtures. Once the players knew this, there was no doubt in our minds that we would play the matches."
