Bolton boss Megson satisfied with transfer cash support

Bolton Wanderers boss Gary Megson is happy with the support he's received from the board in the transfer market.

"Nobody has ever said I had to do anything on the financial front," he said. "I've never been told 'get the wage bill down' or anything like that.

"We can't do a lot of the things that other clubs do, and I don't just mean City. But the people here want the best for Bolton, they don't skimp on anything."

Megson added: "We are not going to turn round and say we want to sign Cristiano Ronaldo and if we don't, the toys are coming out of the pram.

"We had to accept that we would have to sell Nicolas Anelka. No one wanted him to leave this football club, no one said 'let's take the King's shilling from Chelsea'. We didn't want it to happen. Nic did and that was the reason he left. It was nothing to do with finances."
