Bolton Wanderers boss Gary Megson is confident skipper Kevin Nolan will soon break into the England squad.

Nolan struck in their 2-0 victory over Reading and Megson said: "I've only known the lad for three-and-a-half months and I can't fault him in any aspect, either on the field or off it. He is a leader, our captain, and he is terrific in the dressing room.

"And he is very good at what he does which is getting up from the middle of the park and scoring goals. If he keeps performing like he is then I'm sure his opportunity will come.

"I wasn't surprised he wasn't in the squad because of the position we have been in for most of the season. There weren't many players in that 30 who have been playing for a team down at the bottom."
