Bolton Wanderers boss Gary Megson expects offers to arrive for his best players next month.
Megson said the club would have to receive a bid which "blew other deals out of the water" for him to even consider selling his best players.
"I'd be very surprised if there were, if not bids, then interest," said Megson of the approaching transfer window.
"The worrying thing is it doesn't always come to myself, it might go to Phil Gartside (chairman) or Allan Duckworth (chief executive).
"We need to make sure we are all singing from the same hymn sheet.
"There are players here who are, in my view, untouchable. We can't move them on, we wouldn't want to move them on because we want to go forward.
"Everyone does have their price sometimes but it does have to be a deal which blows other deals out of the water - like Cristiano Ronaldo's move to Real Madrid.
"From our own point of view we have players here who would have a high value if they were put on the open market.
"But we have to temper that with what would happen to our football club if we let them go."
