Bolton Wanderers boss Gary Megson wants to secure defender Gary Cahill to a long-term contract.
The Daily Express says Cahill, 23, has become a key figure in Megson's plans since joining from Aston Villa for £5million 18 months ago.
He is regarded as one of the Premier League's most capable young defenders and has been linked with Arsenal.
