Bolton boss Megson happy with board transfer talks

Bolton Wanderers boss Gary Megson is comfortable with his January transfer budget.

The manager met with owner Eddie Davies, chairman Phil Gartside and chief executive Alan Duckworth a fortnight ago - and he explained that much of his current optimism was down to the result of talks between the quartet.

"I was delighted with the meeting," he told the Bolton Evening News. "Eddie doesn't get particularly involved in the day-to-day stuff - he leaves that to Phil (Gartside) - but he makes the decisions and loves the football club. He wants to see it progress and we are really fortunate to have him here.

"It would be a struggle without him but it would be the same at Villa without Randy Lerner, Manchester United, Liverpool - it's all the same.

"Near enough every Premier League club have got that, and a few of the bigger Championship clubs too.

"Unfortunately, some go into football clubs to make themselves wealthy. But those who put their money in for the benefit of the club, like Eddie, are fantastic."
