Bolton boss Megson grateful to keeper Al-Habsi

Ahead of tonight's clash with Sporting Lisbon, Megson said: "I knew the quality of Bayern's team, and we had 10 or 11 injuries, but I also knew already we had an honest bunch who wouldn't short-change the fans.

"We had to thank Ali Al-Habsi for some fantastic saves but my defining memory of that game was that they kicked off and in 10 seconds we had a corner because of the quality and honesty of Kevin Davies.

"Some of the things we're good at, they couldn't handle. We play a good side every week, don't forget. The whole experience was new for a lot of people, not just me, and sometimes the occasion lifts people.

"I was amused that Ottmar Hitzfeld was criticised for taking Franck Ribery off - he brought on Luca Toni! They didn't beat us because we were organised, worked hard and we've some seriously good players."
