Bolton boss Megson delighted to see ex-Forest pal Metgod at Portsmouth

Bolton Wanderers boss Gary Megson is delighted to see former Nottingham Forest teammate Johnny Metgod at Portsmouth.

He said: "Forest signed Johnny from Real Madrid at the same time as they bought me from Sheffield Wednesday.

"We both got the same treatment from Cloughie (Brian Clough). He chucked us off the pre-season tour within 24 hours of our arrival.

"Cloughie accused me of being a 'fat b*****d' - and I was only 10½st.

"I don't know the problem with Johnny. It was probably something to do with him being bald!

"We had signed one weekend and were told to turn up with our gear on the Monday for a trip to Norway. So there we were, bags packed, only to be told by Cloughie we wouldn't be going!

"We ended up spending 10 days with the reserves back in Nottingham. But that was Cloughie for you.

"Johnny ended up getting into the first-team pretty quickly. I stayed in the reserves until Cloughie sold me to Newcastle five months later without giving me a single game."

Megson added: "Tony (Adams) will benefit from his European pedigree. But Johnny also spent a long time in England, so knows what it's all about. He has been on both sides of the fence."
