Bolton Wanderers boss Gary Megson is confident of having money to spend in January.
"I'm optimistic that if it's possible, the club will find the money for the right player. The same goes for the wages," he claimed.
"Now it is just whether the selling clubs want to sell them in January."
Megson also revealed to the Bolton Evening News: "My dad saw one player, who I won't name because he's still at his football club, make his debut about two months ago. He said we needed to try and get him into the club as quickly as possible.
"We watched him and thought it would be a great opportunity to bring a young player to the club. The last figure I heard the club quote was £10million - and that was for a lad who must not have played a dozen games.
"When you look at the big, big clubs in this country they are paying millions of pounds for chancers in the knowledge that if they come off, then great - they've nicked one, but if they don't then they will be able to sell them off for decent money to one of the smaller Premier League clubs.
"We're not in that boat. We need the right player to come in and make us a better team."
