Bolton Wanderers boss Neil Lennon is under consideration at Aston Villa.
Villa sacked Paul Lambert this week.
The Daily Star says Tim Sherwood emerged as the early favourite, but had also been odds on to land the vacant managerial jobs at West Brom, Crystal Palace and QPR.
But Lennon will also be given serious consideration as one of the younger breed, desperate to cut his teeth in the big time.
He also boasts invaluable domestic and European experience from his time in charge at Celtic.
