Bolton manager Dougie Freedman believes Craig Levein needed more time in charge of the Scotland national team.
The 48-year old was sacked by the Scottish Football Association on Monday following a poor start to the teams 2014 World Cup qualifying campaign and new Trotters boss Freedman feels that the former boss deserved to see out his contract rather than meet his demise early.
"I'm disappointed. I'm disappointed for Craig and I'm disappointed it has to end this way," he told Sky Sports News.
"I believe that Craig has not been given enough time. I think he's a good man that deserved longer.
"Why hasn't he seen out his contract? I don't know why we're having to pay him continuously. These questions I can't really ask because I don't know the answer to them. The decision's been made.
"Can we look at the people that gave him the job? Can we ask them questions? Was it the right man to begin with?"
