Bolton boss Coyle: Time for Elmander to translate training form to games

Bolton Wanderers boss Owen Coyle says it's time for Johan Elmander to deliver on the promise he shows in training.

While impressing is training is one thing – the Scot now wants his striker to show just why Wanderers invested a club record £8.2million for him 18 months ago.

“Johan has been a top player and there is no reason why he can’t be again,” Coyle said. “I have been delighted by how he has gone about his work. He is a lovely lad and keen to do well.

“And he earned the reputation he came with so there is no reason why he can’t go on and show all those abilities again. It’s up to him when he crosses that white line.

“You can show your stuff day in, day out and I believe more often than not you will replicate it in games.

“But ultimately, you will be judged on what you do on that pitch when you wear the Wanderers shirt in those competitive games.”
