Bolton Wanderers boss Owen Coyle was stunned by the sacking of Gary Megson at Sheffield Wednesday.
Coyle succeeded Megson at Bolton two years ago.
The Scot said: "I think it is very sad.
"It is always difficult when any of our colleagues lose their jobs, it is not nice and we all feel for them.
"It seems very strange and bizarre when you have two very good managers who are at the top end of the league, chasing that promotion dream, that it is taken away from them.
"With 12 to 13 games to go, the timing issues do not seem to tally up.""Obviously the minds of the clubs now is they want automatic promotion, but who is to say both Lee and Gary couldn't have achieved that?
