Bolton boss Coyle seeks reunion with Middlesbrough defender Williams

Bolton Wanderers are lining up a £3 million move for Middlesbrough defender Rhys Williams.

The Daily Mail says Trotters boss Owen Coyle is looking to bolster his defensive options and is preparing to raid the Teeside club for the second time this year, having signed David Wheater, another Boro academy graduate, in January.

Coyle has already worked with Williams during the defender's five-month loan spell at Burnley in 2009, when Coyle was boss at Turf Moor, and could tempt the Australia international by offering £25,000 per week to move to the Reebok Stadium.

The versatile Williams, 22, can play at right back, in the centre of defence and in central midfield, but has had his Boro appearances limited this term by injury. He has two years to run on his current deal at the Riverside.
