Bolton Wanderers boss Owen Coyle was delighted to see Johan Elmander score for Sweden in their win over Wales this week.
Elmander has just four goals to his credit for Bolton this season, with his last in the league on December 5 in a 2-1 loss at Wolves, a blank run of nine matches.
The 28-year-old, though, has the full support of Bolton manager Coyle.
"Because he came with a big reputation and big transfer fee, he has had greater emphasis placed upon him," said Coyle. "I told him from day one that what has happened has no effect or bearing on my judgement. I will judge him on what I see.
"When he plays he works his socks off, he gives you everything he has got. He has that quality to score goals as well, along with his other attributes, and he showed that last night for Sweden. It was such a composed finish.
"So I retain that belief in Johan, he retains his own belief, and when that Premier League goal goes in for him, the rest will follow on the back of that."
Coyle then joked: "I might tell him to wear his Sweden top underneath his Bolton one!
"But he is a quality player, a lovely man, and I love working with him."
