Bolton boss Coyle: I tried everything to re-sign Chelsea striker Sturridge

Bolton Wanderers boss Owen Coyle admits badgering good friend Andre Villas-Boas about a new loan deal for Chelsea striker Danny Sturridge.

Their friendship did not run to letting Bolton re-sign Sturridge on loan.

Coyle said: "He texted me 'Coyley, you must be crazy if you think I'm letting this lad out of here'.

"He gave me Gael Kakuta instead. We get on very well, we speak about a million things football-wise."
