Bolton Wanderers boss Owen Coyle has explained why he chose not to buy on transfer deadline day.
Coyle insists he wasn't going to be held to ransom on Monday.
"We toyed with one or two, made inroads, but we weren't going to be held to ransom for different prices and different things," he told the Bolton News.
"I decided early Monday morning that I wasn't going to pursue anything because one, the players I wanted weren't available, and two, it wasn't the right time or the right place.
"I'm not into knee-jerk reactions that could jeopardise the long-term future of this football club by throwing out silly money that I think doesn't have to be done.
"If there were one or two special players that were available, then I would have gone for them, but if they were, it was only for the wrong price."
