Bolton Wanderers boss Owen Coyle says Johan Elmander's recovery must start with the player, himself.
The manager knows that regardless of tactics or pep talks, the only person who can ultimately decide whether Elmander fulfils his lofty price tag is the player himself.
"It's easy for me to talk about it, what is important is that Johan doesn't lose faith in his own ability," he said.
"The club paid a lot of money for him on the back of what he had done. But he's the one that has to produce it - and whether that's on the back of him knowing I believe in him, then fine.
"The best person to say whether he is feeling mentally and physically strong is Johan. I believe he is, but he has to keep proving it every time he wears that shirt."
