Bolton Wanderers chairman Phil Gartside is prepared to pay £4 million to land Real Madrid striker Javier Saviola.

Marca says Saviola is the player Bolton boss Gary Megson wants to replace Chelsea target Nicolas Anelka and he has personally asked Gartside for the Argentine's signing.

Megson is eager to see a deal completed quickly as he prepares to lose both Anelka and fellow attacker El Hadji Diouf, due to African Nations Cup commitments, in the coming days.
