Bolton Wanderers are ready to go to £5 million for Aston Villa defender Gary Cahill.
The fee is agreed with Villa but Cahill is uncertain about joining a club in relegation danger.
He is equally unsure about signing for another interested club - Sunderland - but with Villa manager Martin O'Neill ruling out a loan deal, Trotters boss Gary Megson is hopeful of getting his man.
