The Red Devils fell behind in the 6th minute when Trotters defender Zat Knight steered the ball home but fought back thanks to a 23rd minute shot from Nani which whizzed past Jussi Jaaskelainen from the edge of the area.

Bolton again hit the front through Martin Petrov who rocketed a shot past Edwin van der Sar in the 67th minute but enter Owen who came off the bench in the 71st minute to grab an equaliser three minutes later with a deft flick from the near post following a Nani free-kick to give his side a share of the spoils.
