Bologna veteran striker Marco di Vaio hasn't given up on an Italy recall.

Having netted 16 top-flight goals so far this term, it doesn't come as a surprise that some are touting him as an Azzurri candidate.

"To return to the national side after so many years and at my age would be a fairytale," he told Radio Monte Carlo.

"If the call came for a friendly game at the end of the season then I would be honoured and it would be a great joy for me."
