"I was surprised because they kept me there in previous years despite offers from Liverpool and Tottennham," Mudingayi explained.
"Negotiations with Bologna went very quickly, but that's a good thing - it means that they really wanted me here."
Mudingayi is hoping to reinvent himself at the Stadio Renato Dall'Ara and could be a major player for the newly promoted side.
"The transfer is fine by me," he said. "I immediately felt comfortable with my new teammates and I'm sure I'll do well here, which is the most important thing.
"I will bring determination, physical strength and hard work to the job. Wherever I have played I have always given my best and I will try to do the same here," he concluded.
