Bologna president Saputo hints Inzaghi safe

Bologna president Joey Saputo has hinted coach Pippo Inzaghi is safe.

Inzaghi's job has been in doubt after Sunday's defeat to Empoli.

“This evening I held a long meeting with the club's directors to take stock of the situation," Saputo said in a statement published on the club's website.

“I expressed my concern about the form of the team, which has been going through a negative period for some time and that's reflected in the league position.

“I expected more from all components: the directors, the coaching staff and the players. Now everyone needs to give their all for the four games that separate us from the end of the first half of the season and get the points to take us away from this place in the table.

“For my part, I reiterate that staying up is an objective that absolutely cannot be questioned, and I'll do all I can to ensure there's the necessary investment to strengthen the team in the January transfer window.

“I'm sorry for all those who have Bologna in their hearts, but I'm sure that with the support of our fans and the commitment of Inzaghi and the players we will overcome this difficult period."
