Gold Coast United chairman Clive Palmer has declared that the club will win the A-League title in its first season.

In what most would describe as a bold suggestion, Palmer said his new franchise would not only win the premiership but also go through the season undefeated.

"Some people scoffed when we said six months ago how we intend to win the A-League in our first season," Palmer said.

"Since then we have set about building a squad and team to achieve our aims."
