Kevin-Prince Boateng is eager to match the success last season of Dimitar Berbatov at Tottenham.
Like Berbatov, Boateng is arriving at Spurs from the Bundesliga and he declared: "Dimitar is a very good player and he could go to any league in the world and be the best there as well. He is that good.
Spurs beat off competition from UEFA Cup conquerors Sevilla for Boateng, who was born in Berlin but has dual nationality with a Ghanaian father.
He is a regular Under-21 international for Germany but has yet to make his senior debut. Even so, he rejected an offer from Ghana to join their World Cup finals squad last year.
And despite his youth, he aims to become a key Tottenham man as soon as he can.
He said: "I went on the club website and looked at the ages of the players - 19, 20, 21, 22 - and they are all big players. That's why I'm sure I can do big things for this team.
"I can learn a lot from this team and this league and I hope I'll become better and better. The spirit of this team is like a big family and that's what I need, I get the feeling everyone works together here."
