Boateng to leave Portsmouth for African Nations Cup

Portsmouth midfielder Kevin-Prince Boateng is declaring himself for Ghana.

Boateng has decided to join the Portsmouth exodus for the African Nations Cup in the New Year.

Although Boateng was born in Germany and has played for them at youth level, he has decided to switch allegiance to Ghana, his father's country of birth.

The attacking midfielder is awaiting clearance from FIFA so he can stake his claim in the Ghana squad for the African tournament in the New Year, and in next summer's World Cup.

Boateng said: "It will be a very big tournament because it will be the first time I play for Ghana, so there is no question about not going."
