Boateng: Dowie has been good for Hull

Hull City veteran George Boateng was upset after Wigan Athletic's equaliser in yesterday's draw.

The 34-year-old watched as Steve Gohouri's injury-time goal earned Wigan a 2-2 draw at the DW Stadium, which confirmed Hull's drop out of English football's top flight after two seasons.

And Boateng admitted: "It's been coming since Sunderland last weekend, but we tried to take it to the last game of the season and what makes it disappointing is conceding in injury-time again - the equaliser is so hard to take.

"Everyone at the club has made mistakes, including myself - but on a personal level I think we've enjoyed our time under Iain Dowie.

"When he came in he bought calmness to the place, everybody felt we could have some belief we could maybe make it (survive), but it's just unfortunate we have not collected enough points again.

"The players are happy with the (coaching) staff currently - but it's up to the chairman and the board."
