Former Manchester United winger Jesper Blomqvist has been impressed by Louis van Gaal.

Van Gaal guided United to fourth place in his first season as manager this term.

Champions League winner Blomqvist said: "You have to give him credit for this season, because at times it looked really scary.

"It is easy to get frustrated, to change things and to look for other solutions.

"He has charisma and he has experience in dealing with heavy setbacks. But he knows what he must do and trusts in his own philosophy. He knows what works. He has, after all, so often done so in the past."
