Angel Di Maria has revealed that a phone conversation with Paris Saint-Germain manager Laurent Blanc convinced him to leave Manchester United for Paris.
Di Maria joined United on a club record £59.7million deal from Real Madrid during the summer of 2014 but the Argentine winger did not enjoy the best of debut seasons at Old Trafford.
Following the disappointment, Di Maria made it clear that he wanted to leave United by refusing to turn up for the club's pre-season tour of the United States and was eventually shipped off to PSG.
Now Di Maria has gone on to speak regarding his acrimonious departure and has stated that a phone call with PSG boss Blanc convinced him to ditch United for the Parc des Princes.
Speaking to BeIN Sports, Di Maria said: "The first time we spoke, it was before I signed for PSG.
"This made me very happy. It happened the same way when Mourinho made me come to Real Madrid. They called me before I spoke with them. Blanc called me when he was in the United States and I was still on holiday.
"He said he was very happy to recruit me, that he had wanted me for several seasons.
"Obviously, this gave me an added incentive to sign for PSG."
