Blackwell praises Sheffield United character

Sheffield United manager Kevin Blackwell has praised his team for their recent form under duress.

The Blades have endured plenty of injuries and financial worry during the start of the season but sit sixth on the Championship table - a result that has please Blackwell greatly.

"I am really proud and pleased that we are sitting sixth in the table going into the second international break," said Blackwell.

"We have a lot of things to contend with but we are where we are because we are doing better than other people.

"You have to have character if you are going to go anywhere - and the lads have shown that in abundance - but we are still teaching the younger players how to handle life at a big club with big expectations.

"One or two have found out, in the last couple of weeks, that the pressure might be a little too much for them," he added. "Others have made mistakes but that's the only way to learn."
