Blackpool's Adam remained focussed despite Middlesbrough interest

Charlie Adam admits that Middlesbrough's attempts to sign him in the transfer window proved disruptive off the field, they did not affect his performances on it. The 24-year-old is the Seasiders' top scorer this term with 13 goals and is hoping to add to that tally in order to halt a stuttering run of form which has seen them take just two points in their last five games.

He told The Gazette: "It was tough during January because at the time you don't know what is going to happen.

"But once the whistle goes you get on with it and I think I showed with my performances that I wasn't too distracted because I won the PFA player of the month award.

"When a team is doing well there is always speculation about its players, but the club made their decision and that's it. I am happy here.

"I will keep playing and working hard and trying to get Blackpool as high as we can at the end of the season - then we can worry about everything else."
