Blackpool winger Bouazza: Algeria want Man Utd striker Rooney fit for World Cup

Blackpool's Algeria winger Hameur Bouazza hopes Manchester United star Wayne Rooney is fully fit for the World Cup.

Algeria are in the same group as England, but Bouazza wants Rooney to be firing on all cylinders for South Africa.

Former Fulham midfielder Bouazza, speaking at an event organised by England team sponsors Nationwide Building Society, said: "I don't want to wish bad luck to people.

"I really respect Wayne Rooney, he's a big player and he's a fantastic player to watch. You can't wish bad luck to that kind of player.

"It's always good to see him playing for United and England and to be honest if he doesn't play the World Cup I will be really disappointed.

"I really hope he will be back fit and strong and scoring goals like he's been doing for the last few months. I wish him all the best and I'm sure in Algeria they will think the same as me. "

Bouazza hopes to line up against Rooney in South Africa after overcoming groin and hip injuries.

"I'm feeling good and I'm convinced Rooney will be the same," he said. "I can't see him missing the rest of the season or the World Cup.

"I believe he will be back strong and fit and will be on fire again by the time the World Cup comes around."
