Blackpool sack former Man Utd, Liverpool midfielder Ince

Blackpool have removed Paul Ince from his position as manager of the club.

The former England, Liverpool and Manchester United midfielder took the reins of the Seasiders less than 12 months ago but has been sacked after the north west outfit fell to 14th on the Championship table on the back of four straight defeats.

"Blackpool Football Club can confirm that manager Paul Ince and assistants Alex Rae and Steve Thompson have had their contracts terminated with immediate effect," read an official club statement.

"Barry Ferguson will take charge of training when the players return on Thursday.

"A further announcement will be made in due course."

Former Blackburn Rovers, MK Dons and Notts County boss Ince arrived at Bloomfield Road in February 2013 but managed only 12 victories during his tenure with the team having not saluted since November last year.
