Blackpool's Adam admits it was hard work to beat West Brom

Blackpool midfielder Charlie Adam admits the team struggled to deal with nine-man West Brom on Monday night.

The Seasiders fought hard to record a 2-1 win at Bloomfield Road but Adam, who scored from the penalty spot early in the piece, says the game was made much harder after the Baggies had Pablo Ibanez and Gonzalo Jara sent form the pitch prior to the half-hour mark.

"We made hard work of it," Adam admitted on Sky Sports 1. "But it's just nice to get a first win at home and hopefully it's a good three points.

"It was always going to be a tough match but when they went down to nine men it was even harder for us. When we were playing against 11 we were playing well but it's even harder with nine. Fair play to West Brom, they dug in well.

"It was tough but we'll take the three points and we're delighted to get our first win at home. We have to win games ugly and we've done that."
