Notts County boss Craig Short has completed the double signing of Blackpool striker Ben Burgess and former Doncaster Rovers midfielder John Spicer. Burgess told the club's official website: "I'm really excited, I think I've only played here once, which was about 10 years ago.

"It's a great stadium, the pitch looks really good, obviously I'm happy with everything and I just can't wait."

Spicer added: "I said I didn't want to play for a team that was going to be happy sitting in mid-table and I was assured that was certainly not the case. We want to get to the Championship as soon as possible, which is what I aim to do."
