Blackpool 'limp over line' into Championship play-offs

Blackpool secured a Championship play-off place despite being held to a draw by Bristol City at Bloomfield Road. The Seasiders went into their final game knowing three points would guarantee a top-six finish.

But in the end a draw proved more than enough after Swansea were held to a goalless draw by Doncaster at the Liberty Stadium.

A delighted Tangerines boss Ian Holloway said: "We've limped over the line in the end but you could see what it meant to everybody.

"I'm just relieved that we've matched what Swansea did and I'm very, very proud.

"It looked like we were washed up but we've got a chance now.

"I've just said that someone's got to win it, why can't it be Blackpool? There wouldn't be a better story anywhere.

"Whether we are good enough or not we'll have to wait and see, but we're in there.

"If I was anyone else, I wouldn't want to be playing us. That's not to say that we're better than everyone else but we've got nothing to lose."

Blackpool now face Nottingham Forest over two legs, with the winner facing Cardiff or Leicester at Wembley.

"I know that we can have a right good gamble at it," he added.

"And I don't think you'll see us as nervous as we were today, because we've done something now and I don't think the other supporters will think that.

"We now want to refocus. I'll let them celebrate tonight because I've been in football long enough to understand what an achievement this is, but if you start resting on your laurels then you're not going to get anywhere.

"We've scored more goals than any other team in the play-off positions and what we've got to do is stop conceding some. Will that be enough? Who knows. But we know we can score so we're a threat.

"And I guarantee one thing, we'll be going there to try and win each game, not draw it."
