Blackpool chairman Karl Oyston has apologised for abusive texts he sent to a supporter. Oyston admitted sending the "unacceptable" texts in response to "a barrage of abuse" he received after his mobile number was placed on a social media website, reports BBC Sport.

"I regret stooping to the level of those threatening and abusing my family," said Oyston in a statement.

"Given my position, I should have acted with more responsibility."
