Blackpool manager Paul Ince is determined to hold on to the players who are set to come out of contract this summer.
The Seasiders finished 15th this term following last season's playoff final and Ince is eager to secure as many expiring deals as he can with reported Liverpool and Manchester United target son Tom one of those players.
When speaking of his plans for next season, Ince said: "It depends which ones we can keep. Now the hard work starts.
"The hardest thing for me as a manager is I've had to release nine kids last Friday, which kills you. That's part of the job and now we've got to sit down with 18 players who are out of contract.
"Normally it's about four or five and it's quite easy, you can book your holidays.
"We need to start addressing that, the ones who are going to stay and the ones who are going to go and it needs to be done quickly. I don't want to go into June not knowing that I've got more or less a settled squad."
