Ollie wrote in the Sunday Mirror: "Cristiano Ronaldo splits opinion. You love him or you hate him.
"Sometimes you feel both emotions.
"But I have got to say that when it comes to being a professional footballer, you can only admire the bloke.
"Ronaldo won his 100th cap for Portugal against Northern Ireland in midweek at the age of just 27 years and 248 days.
"There isn’t a player in the game who loves being the centre of attention more, and I hope to God he luxuriated in the glory.
"Because in the minds of many top players, international football has become nothing more than an afterthought.
"Playing for your country used to be the pinnacle. Now it’s become a chore that’s best to be avoided when you are your club’s most prized asset.
"But rest isn’t an option when you’re hooked on the game, like Ronaldo. Lionel Messi is the same. So is Wayne Rooney."
