Blackpool boss Ian Holloway remembers the day Blackburn Rovers rival Sam Allardyce broke his toe.
Blackpool chief Ollie still shudders when he thinks of the collision with Big Sam during their playing days.
The old rivals go head-to-head in a Lancashire derby at Bloomfield Road this afternoon.
Holloway, 47, said: "Sam is someone I look up to with great admiration.
"It's not affection because I don't know him so well. I remember he broke my toe - and it bloody well hurt.
"I kicked the bottom of his studs when I was at Torquay back in the 1980s and I've never felt pain like it.
"He leaned over me and said, 'Aw'right, lad?' I've never seen a bloke so big in my life.
"Sam had massive studs on a hard pitch, so was one of the old school. I bet he ate Vicks VapoRub as well."
