Blackpool boss Holloway convinced finding Barcelona class in Sylvestre

Blackpool boss Ian Holloway is convinced he can bring out the best in summer signing Ludovic Sylvestre.

Holloway says the French midfielder's eye-catching display at Aston Villa was the best thing that came out of that match, which landed the Blackpool boss in trouble with the Premier League for making 10 changes.

Ollie said: "Sylvestre was outstanding. Some of things he did I would pay to watch myself - his skill, his confidence, is absolutely fantastic.

"I just need to top up his fitness, bring him along slowly like Steve Bruce has done with Asamoah Gyan.

"If you put them in too early they don't look good enough but he's got bundles of potential.

"You could see he was still a bit short of fitness because he cramped up towards the end against Villa. But he was easily man of the match.

"He'd been playing in the Czech Republic and could stroll around and pass it for fun over there and look so good he didn't need to be as physically fit as you do in this league."

Sylvestre, 26, was spotted by Barcelona playing for a junior side in Strasbourg, and was nurtured in their B team before making a handful of senior appearances four years ago.

But things did not work out and he moved to Sparta Prague and Mlada Boleslav before Holloway snapped him up for £600,000 in August.
