Blackpool boss Ian Holloway has hopes of re-signing Liverpool midfielder Jonjo Shelvey on-loan.

The Seasiders boss will contact Liverpool about a deal, although it is thought Shelvey being allowed to leave Anfield again hinges on the fitness of Reds captain Steven Gerrard.

"I will be ringing Liverpool and I'll be asking about his availability," said Holloway.

"We didn't want Jonjo to go back. As far as I'm concerned, we'll have to ask Liverpool very nicely to get him back.

"It will be Liverpool's choice if he comes back or not as he is their player."
