Blackpool boss Holloway adamant Varney deal clear-cut

Blackpool boss Ian Holloway remains confident of signing permanently Derby County striker Luke Varney.

Holloway has made a permanent deal for on-loan Derby striker Luke Varney a top priority after his wonder goal against Wolves.

The Seasiders believe they have an agreement to sign Varney, 28, for £250,000 - though the Rams are claiming otherwise.

Holloway said: "The Varney scenario is pretty clear-cut. If we want to talk to him, we have the opportunity and nobody else does.

"If we say we don't want him - which I think we would be stupid to do - that might open the door for them to take him back at the end of the season."
