Blackpool boss admits interest in Fleetwood striker Vardy

Blackpool boss Ian Holloway has enquired about Blue Square Premier League Fleetwood's prize striker Jamie Vardy but admits he stands little chance of success. The Seasiders overcame their Fylde coast neighbours 5-1 in the FA Cup third round last weekend but Vardy impressed in getting on the scoresheet for the home side.

Holloway confirmed he made an inquiry to Fleetwood counterpart Micky Mellon, but does not expect to secure the services of the 25-year-old.

"There'll be lots of bids in for that boy and I'd rather talk to Mick about that," said Holloway. "As far as I'm concerned, he's their player and I don't talk about other people's players.

"I spoke to Mick about his player, he's told me what his club wants and I've thought `okay, fair enough' and that's about as far as it is really.

"I conduct my business with Mick and through my chairman with his chairman and no-one needs to know about it until there is an agreement. Whether that ever happens, who knows? I doubt it very much at the moment because they're going to get promoted and he's a huge part of that."
