Blackpool ace Ince backs Liverpool's Gerrard to take out England player of the year crown

Blackpool winger Tom Ince believes Steven Gerrard should be crowned the 2012 England Men's Player of the Year.

When asked on TheFA.com website, Ince says his former Liverpool teammate has been the best performed Three Lions player in 2012 and would be a worthy recipient of the award.

"It has to be Stevie G. He has been excellent, especially at Euro 2012," said Ince of the England captain.

"It was a tough tournament for England, and there was a game when maybe people were getting on at him, but they forget about the other side of him.

"It's not all about his driving runs, his great 50-yard passes and the goals he scores, but it's his attitude off the ball.

"He gets back, makes tackles and he shows great leadership.

"Every time he pulls the England shirt on, he's the same player that you see for Liverpool. I think he's a fantastic player and a credit to England."
