Celtic signing Tyler Blackett hopes Virgil van Dijk remains with the club..

Blackett, who joined the Hoops on loan from Manchester United on Monday, wishes to form a defensive partnership with the Dutch defender, who continues to be heavily linked with a move to Southampton.

"Obviously van Dijk has been a good player for this club," Blackett said after completing his move to Parkhead.

"Right now he is still here and that's always good for the club and I hope he stays here as well so I can play alongside him.

"I'm just hoping to do well and hopefully do what I can to be a good player for this club.

"I'm just focused on my position here and now I'm here I just want to do well personally and see what comes."
