Blackburn Rovers fullback Stephen Warnock admits their season could hang onto the coming four weeks.
"You don't want to be getting to Christmas time and be in or around the bottom of the league," said the former Liverpool left-back, who returns from suspension to play at Portsmouth today.
"We know we are capable of getting out of it and we aim to do that.
"We want to come to January being as high in the league as we can and going for the European places in the second half of the season.
"I still think the club is capable of pushing on for Europe; the league position is false at the moment.
"We won't be in the bottom three for long and I don't believe we'll be in a relegation battle for the season. I think it is a short-term thing."
